From July 3rd to 7th, 2023, representatives of the research group led by Professor Han Feng from the School of Pharmacy, Nanjing Medical University, namely Zhang Yu, Wu Zhouyue and Song Hengyi, went to the UK to attend the 19th World Congress of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology. This conference was held in Glasgow, Scotland, UK from July 2nd to 7th, 2023. It was hosted by the British Pharmacological Society. More than 3,000 pharmacology experts from all over the world attended this conference. It has established an important platform for international pharmacologists to exchange and learn.
A total of six manuscripts from the School of Pharmacy of Nanjing Medical University were selected this time, covering aspects such as neuropharmacology, tumor pharmacology, and novel drug delivery systems. Two students, Song Hengyi and Wu Zhouyue, gave oral reports. Two students introduced in English the research work of their research group in areas such as novel targeted anti-tumor drugs and novel anti-glioma drug delivery systems. In the poster display area, Teacher Zhang Yu introduced the research work of our research group on the neuropharmacological mechanism of chemotherapy-induced eating disorders.
This conference features twelve sub-forums, covering various branches of pharmacology such as neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, protein structure, ion channel pharmacology, natural products, anti-infective drugs, and antiviral drugs. Teachers and students from the School of Pharmacy actively exchanged views with experts on cutting-edge issues such as new trends and challenges in these fields.
Through this meeting, the participating teachers and students actively engaged in on-site questioning of the conference reports, post-meeting discussions and poster exchanges. As researchers in the field of pharmacy, they increasingly feel that the responsibility of pharmacology researchers is significant. They need to work harder, be courageous in facing various challenges and opportunities in the field of pharmacy, and strive to contribute to the development of health and medicine in China.
