August 1st to 4th, 2023 Professor Lu Yingmei from The School of Basic Medical Sciences of Nanjing Medical University led student representatives Luo Yifan and Zheng Zhiwei of the research group to Japan to attend The 46th Annual Meeting of the Japan Neuroscience Society. The conference was held at the Sendai International Convention Center in Sendai City, Japan from August 1st to 4th, 2023. It was chaired by Professor Kazuto Kobayashi from the Department of Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine, Fukushima Medical University, and was hosted by the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS). Neuroscience experts from all over the world attended this conference, providing an important platform for international neuroscientists to exchange and learn.

Three teachers and students from the research group gave oral presentations and poster displays respectively, covering aspects such as neural circuits, neuropharmacology, and new drug targets. On the morning of August 1st, Luo Yifan, a student, presented the research work of his research group in revealing the different circuits of the medial prefrontal cortex projecting to the striatum and amygdala that regulate autism-like and anxiest-like behaviors. On the afternoon of August 1st, Professor Lu Yingmei presented the research work of her research group on the relationship between cognitive dysfunction mediated by the chemotherapy drug bortezomib and autophagy disorders in cerebrovascular endothelial cells. Student Zheng Zhiwei presented the research work report of his research group on the first discovery of the existence of projection circuits in the IV/V lobe to the parietal nucleus of the cerebellum and their mediation of the mechanism of ataxia occurrence. Three teachers and students introduced the research work of their research group in areas such as neural circuits, neuropharmacology and new drug targets in full English. In the poster display area, Zheng Zhiwei and Luo Yifan introduced the research work of their research group on the existence of projection circuits in the IV/V lobule-to-parietal nucleus of the cerebellum and the mechanism by which it mediates ataxia. They also discussed and exchanged views with the teachers and students who came forward to ask questions.

To further implement the strategy of strengthening the university with talents and expand overseas talent recruitment channels, on the afternoon of August 2nd, the high-level talent overseas recruitment presentation for Japan of our university was successfully held at Tohoku University in Japan. More than ten young scholars from disciplines such as clinical medicine, stomatology, and basic medicine attended the event for exchange. At the presentation, Professor Lu Yingmei, on behalf of the school, extended a warm welcome to all the participants. The presentation meeting elaborated in detail on the latest policies for the introduction of high-level talents in our school from aspects such as school profile, talent work, and introduction benefits. It also focused on interpreting our school's full-cycle talent cultivation system and talent introduction projects such as Jiangsu Specially-appointed Professors. The scholars attending the conference consulted and discussed issues such as talent introduction policies, talent development, and application for talent projects. They also provided detailed and comprehensive answers to various talent introduction questions on the spot.

Through this meeting, the participating teachers and students actively engaged in on-site questioning of the conference reports, post-meeting discussions and poster exchanges. As researchers in the field of neuroscience, they increasingly feel the great responsibility of being scientific fellows. They need to work harder, be courageous in facing various challenges and opportunities in the field of neuroscience, and strive to contribute to the development of health and medicine in China.
