From July 27th to 30th, 2023 Representatives of teachers and students from Professor Han-Lu's team from Nanjing Medical University went to Zhuhai to attend The 16th National Academic Conference of The Chinese Neuroscience Society and The 2nd China-Japan-South Korea International Conference CJK International Meeting. This conference is the largest academic event in the field of neuroscience in our country, focusing on disciplines such as neuroscience, brain-inspired science, and computer science, promoting academic exchanges and facilitating the cross-disciplinary development.

This grand event brought together many leading experts and elite scholars in neuroscience. A total of 20 academicians were invited to attend. The conference focused on academic research and created a strong academic atmosphere. Meanwhile, experts and scholars in neuroscience from Japan, South Korea and even Europe came one after another to enhance academic exchanges with domestic colleagues and share the latest research progress. There were about 5,700 representatives attending the conference.
The representatives of teachers and students from Professor Han-Lu's research group at Nanjing Medical University also demonstrated outstanding academic proficiency and active academic participation at this conference. Professor Han Feng, as a co-convener of Session 30 "Targeting cell-cell communication and signaling in neurovascular diseases", and published an academic report titled "Endothelial TFEB signaling initiates microglial activation and cognitive dysfunction". His report elaborated in depth on the impact of cerebrovascular TFEB signal transduction on the activation of microglia and cognitive dysfunction. By revealing the correlation mechanism between intercellular communication and signal transduction in the neurovascular network, it provided new ideas for clarifying the complex pathological mechanisms and regulatory targets of major brain diseases.

Professor Lu Yingmei, as the co-convener of Session 15 "Autism Spectrum Disorder and Comorbidity:Mechanism and Intervention", Together with Professor Xie Wei from Southeast University, we invited young scholars in the field of autism who are active on the front line of neuroscience in China to introduce the new progress and new ideas in this field respectively, focusing on the molecular mechanisms and drug treatments related to autism. In addition, Professor Lu Yingmei published an academic report titled "Divergent projections of the prelimbic cortex mediate autism and anxiety like behaviors". Her report elaborated in depth on the circuits and molecular mechanisms of the claustrophobia comorbidity, providing new ideas for clarifying the complex pathological mechanisms and regulatory targets of the claustrophobia comorbidity.

In addition, the students from Professor Han-Lu's research group who attended the conference also actively participated in academic exchange activities, demonstrating excellent academic qualities and potential. During the conference, they actively asked questions to the experts, were brave enough to express their own opinions, and had in-depth discussions with the experts in the post-conference exchange session, constantly broadening their academic horizons. This positive academic atmosphere will provide more abundant opportunities and platforms for the academic research and communication of the college's teachers and students, and help cultivate more top-notch pharmaceutical talents with innovative spirit and practical ability.

During this conference, the 8th Member Representative Conference of the Chinese Neuroscience Society was held, and the 8th Council of the society was elected. Professor Han Feng was elected as a new council member. At this conference, not only was the research progress made by Professor Han-Lu's team from Nanjing Medical University in the field of brain science and brain disease research and transformation showcased, but it also provided a valuable opportunity for the team's teachers and students to exchange ideas with top scholars at home and abroad. In the future, Professor Han-Lu's team will continue to actively promote the development of interdisciplinary studies, constantly deepen their understanding and recognition of the cutting-edge fields of neuroscience, and contribute more wisdom and strength to the discovery of drug targets for major brain diseases and the research and development of innovative drugs.
