From May 10th to 12th, the 2024 National Academic Conference of the Cerebrovascular Function and Disease Branch of the Chinese Neuroscience Society and the Tianyuan Forum on Brain Science Development were successfully held in the beautiful ancient capital of Six dynasties, Nanjing. The event was hosted by the Cerebrovascular Function and Disease Branch of the Chinese Neuroscience Society and Nanjing Medical University, and organized by the School of Pharmacy and the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.
About 560 representatives attended this conference, including 13 plenary reports, 36 invited reports and 29 reports by outstanding young people. This grand event brought together many leading experts and elite scholars in neuroscience. A total of seven academicians were invited to attend. The conference focused on the hot scientific issues in the field of brain science and brain health, creating a strong academic atmosphere. The representatives attending the meeting explored the complex pathogenesis, target research and new technologies and theories in clinical treatment of brain diseases. The splendid academic reports have brought us various new viewpoints and methods. The discussion of viewpoints brimming with wise academic thoughts provides us with new ideas and new creativity. Not only did I appreciate the charisma of many senior scientists in the field of neuroscience, but I also felt the vigorous fighting spirit of young scholars on the front line of new drug research and development.
This conference has invited Academician He Zhigang, an academician of the National Academy of Medicine of the United States, Academician Zhao Jizong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Gu Xiaosong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Zhang Xu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhang Yan from Zhejiang University, President Chen Zhong of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Professor Yang Qingwu from Xinqiao Hospital of Lu Jun Medical University, Professor Hu Bo from Union Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University Professor Liu Qiang, Professor Zhu Jianhong from Huashan Hospital of Fudan University, Professor Zhu Dongya from Nanjing Medical University, Professor Yang Guoyuan from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Professor Xu Weihai from Peking Union Medical College Hospital delivered 13 outstanding keynote speeches. The high-quality reports attracted a large number of participants, especially young scholars who raised many thought-provoking questions around the reports. Academician Gao Tianming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering presided over the report of this conference.
This conference focused on international hot issues such as "Frontiers and Transformation of Cerebrovascular Disease Research" and "Innovative Drugs and Regulation of Brain Diseases" for exchange. Four invited sub-forums were set up, with a total of 36 invited reports. Brain disease experts from all over the country brought us a variety of wonderful academic reports, offering us new perspectives and methods. Members of the Cerebrovascular Function and Disease Branch of the Chinese Neuroscience Society also demonstrated active academic participation at this conference. Among them, Professor Xu Weihai from Peking Union Medical College Hospital was invited to give a keynote speech on the topic of "Disease Effects of Intracranial Atherosclerotic Stenosis". In the face of the widespread existence of atherosclerotic diseases in contemporary society, Professor Xu Weihai's research is expected to play a positive role in promoting this field. Furthermore, Professor Ge Wuping from the Beijing Brain Science and Brain-Inspired Research Center, Professor Li Litao from Hebei Provincial People's Hospital, Professor Liu Xiaoyun from the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Professor Lu Hua from Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital, Professor Peng Ying from the Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Zhu 䒟 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Zhang Jingjing from Chifeng Hospital, among other committee members, also delivered important academic reports at this conference.
During the conference, the fifth committee meeting of the Cerebrovascular Function and Disease Branch was held, and it was determined that the 2025 Annual Conference on Cerebrovascular Function and Disease would be hosted by Professor Xu Weihai's team from Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
