Research Group Attends and Presents at the 2026 Jinling International Symposium on Brain Science and Pharmaceutical Sciences

From May 21 to 23, 2026, the 2026 Jinling International Symposium on Brain Science and Pharmaceutical Sciences was held in Nanjing. Hosted by Nanjing Medical University and organized by its School of Pharmacy and Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the symposium focused on fundamental brain research while integrating drug target discovery, innovative drug development, and clinical translation. The agenda covered cutting edge areas including epilepsy, depression, addiction, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, neuroinflammation, microglia replacement, and gene editing, aiming to promote basic research innovation and clinical application.
The conference brought together over 300 participants, including internationally renowned experts in brain science and pharmaceuticals, faculty and student representatives from both within and outside the university. Distinguished speakers included Professor Alex Kolodkin, Member of the US National Academy of Sciences and Chair Professor at Johns Hopkins University; Professor Allan V. Kalueff, Tenured Professor of St. Petersburg University, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Member of the European Academy of Sciences; Professor Toru Takumi from Kobe University School of Medicine (Japan); Professor Devanand Manoli from the University of California (USA); and Professor Nashat Abumaria, Tenured Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Medical Neurobiology, Institute of Brain Science, Fudan University. The opening ceremony was moderated by Professor Zhou Qigang, Director of the Planning Division of the Office of Science and Research at Nanjing Medical University.
In their opening addresses, Professor Liu Yan (Vice Dean of the School of Pharmacy), Professor Chen Yun (Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange), and Professor Han Feng (Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Nanjing Medical University) highlighted the university’s research breakthroughs in brain disease mechanisms, novel drug target discovery, precision medicine, and clinical translation, all supported by high level research platforms. They also outlined the discipline’s strategic alignment with national health development goals, demonstrating its vision and capability for high level international collaboration.
Throughout the symposium, both domestic and international experts delivered a series of high quality presentations, showcasing the latest advances at the intersection of brain science and pharmaceutical research. During interactive sessions, students and scholars engaged in lively and in depth discussions with leading scientists, fostering fruitful intellectual exchanges and a vibrant academic atmosphere.
The 2026 Jinling International Symposium on Brain Science and Pharmaceutical Sciences focused on the interdisciplinary frontiers of brain science and pharmacology, bringing together global experts to address key issues such as mechanisms of major brain disorders, drug target identification, and clinical translation. The symposium successfully established a high level international academic platform, effectively promoted collaborative innovation across industry, academia, and research, and injected new momentum into China’s brain science research and the high quality development of the pharmaceutical industry, contributing wisdom and strength to the ‘Healthy China’ initiative.
